General characteristics of Yazd province

Geologically, Yazd province possesses from the oldest geographical formations (Precambrian) to the youngest (Holocene) ones. Yazd province is a part of the central Iran and has different features. A very small area of it in the South of the province (the South of Harat) is a part of Zagros region. Existence of more than 52 mining areas and discovered minerals, 35 natural caves and geomorphologic phenomena are the results of geological features of the province which can affect industrial, mining, tourism … activities.
